Competitions & Education
The primary role of the SDA is to look after the industrial needs of its members through advice, representation and protection. The SDA employs a team of experienced and qualified people to do this. Members of the SDA can receive advice and assistance on any workplace issue.
$150 Textbook Scholarship
Each year the SDA offers, by ballot, 800 textbook scholarships to members or members’ children or grandchildren who are senior secondary or tertiary students.
Scholarships are worth $150 each and application forms are published in The Shop Assistant each Spring or online in the competitions section.
Free Competitions
Four times a year, the SDA gives members the opportunity to win tickets to popular attractions and events and concerts as well as movie tickets, fuel vouchers and gift cards.
Free Footy Tipping
Each year members can win up to $1,000 in SDA free online footy tipping competition as well as weekly Gold Class movie double passes.
